Gothenburg Symphony OrchestraRoger Carlsson was born in Borås, Sweden, in 1957, and studied percussion with Bo Holmstrand at the University of Gothenburg Scholl of Music. Upon completition of his degree, and the supplementary diploma, he took up studies in Denmark with Bent Lyllof, and then went on to the Royal Academy of Music and the National Centre for Orchestral Studies in London. He spent 1982-83 season in New York, studying mainly with Elden B. Bailey at the Julliard School of Music. He also attended master classes in various places with the leading percussionists and timpanists in the United States.
Carlsson has appeared as a soloist with various Nordic sympony Orchetsras, including Iceland's, and performed on the radio and TV on many occasions.
