With warmth and melodius compositions like the Pastoral Suite and God in Disguise he reached into the hearts of the Swedish people. He was laso a learned and serious man, who in his role as Professor of composition fostered and educated several generations of young Swedish composers. In 1945 he was appointed as an inspector of those amateur orchestras which were entitled to state contribution. He immediately noticed their need for modern repertoire with string parts that were technically feasible for the musicians. This resulted in Larsson composing a valuable and unique series of concertinos between 1955 and 1957. They all contained comparatively simple stringparts and an advanced solo part. Camerata Roman is part of the county music ensemble of Kalmar, Sweden. Since its establishment in the seventies, under the name Oskarshamns ensemble, it has developed into one of the leading string orchestras of Sweden. As "Camerata" in the name of the orchestra indicates, they often play "camerata" i.e. with no canductor. This places high demands on the musicians to be sensitive ensemble players. "Roman" is a reference to the "father of Swedish music", Johan Helmich Roman (1694-1758), who lived the last 13 years of his life on the Haraldsmåla estate north of Kalmar. Jan Stigmer was born in Sweden 1964. Having recieved acclaim from audiances as well as critics for several years, there is no doubt that Jan Stigmer is one of the most exiting names among young violinists today. Joakim Kallhed began playing the Piano at early age. he completed his graduate studies in 1990 at the School of Music, Gothenburg University, Sweden, where he studied with Ingmar Bergfelt. He made his debut appereance as a soloist with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra. Joakim Kallhed has made numerous recordings for radio and television, including one performance with Victor Borge. He has also toured the USA, South America and several European countries.
