Matti Hirvonen appears frequently in music festivals in Sweden and abroad as a soloist and chamber musician and has made a large number of TV, radio and gramophone recordings.

The many years of pleaseure gained from performing Schuberts Lieder inspired Matti Hirvonen to immerse himself in the world of Schuberts solo piano music and thus gave rise to the present recording

Matti Hirvonen is one of Swedens most sought-after accompanists and has performed with singers such as Elisabeth Söderström, Hillevi Martinpleto, Marianne Häggander, Håkan Hagegård & Peter Mattei, just to name a few. Matti Hirvonen has a particular intrest in contemporary music and has given a number of first performancecs of Swedish piano works both at home and internationally.

Following his undergraduate studies at vthe Sibelius Academy in Helsinki with Professor Liisa Pohjola and at the Royal Collage of Music in Stockholm with Greta Erikson, Matti Hirvonen pursued further studies in London with Peter Feuchtwenger (piano) & Geoffrey parsons (lieder interpretation). During this period He also took part in masterclasses with Tatiana Nikolaieva and Andras Schiff. Since that time he has built a reputation as a highly versatile musician; soloist and chamber musician, lieder accompanist and teacher.
