David Gordon Shute, tubaOnyx Brass was formed in 1993 and since its accalimed Purcell Room début in 1995 (under the auspices of the Park Lane Group), it has toured the length and breath of the British Isles performing for music societies, festivals and arts associations. The ensemble has a specific commitment to the commisoning and performing of new music: audiences and critics have been particularly apprciative of their adveturous yet accesible programming, as well as the warmth and vitality of their tone. Recently they have recived an award from the John Tunnell Trust, the first such award for chamber music to be given to a brass ensemble. This is their first CD recording ant it features exclusivley world premiere recordings.
