CLÉLIA IRUZUN, piano
Clélia Iruzun was born in Rio de Janeiro and began her career as a child prodigy, winning her first competition at the age of 7. By the time she was 16 she had won several senior competitions in Brazil been awarded thee 'Hors Concours'. Since then many Brazilian composers have dedicated works to her, among them Arnaldo Rebello and francisco Mignone. She studied at the School of Music of the federal University in Rio de Janeiro.
In 1981 she moved to London where she studied with Maria Curcio, Christopher Elton and Noretta Conci. She also studied with Merces de Silva Telles in paris. At the Royal Academy of Music she gained the Recital Diploma and several prizes.
In addition, she has recived much advice and guidance from other distinguished musicians such as Nelson Freire, Jaques Klein, Fou Ts'Ong and Stephen Kovachevich.
She has performed widely in her native Brazil and neighbouring South American countries. Since comming to Europe, most of its countries and North America playing recitals and performing at festivals. Clélias repertoire covesrs most of the major classic and romantic composers, but also includes the more important Spanish and latin American works.Please visit Ms. Iruzun's personal hompage at:
