(Known previously as : Camerata Roman)Camerata Roman is part of the county music ensemble of Kalmar, Sweden. Since its establishment in the seventies, under the name Oskarshamns ensemble, it has developed into one of the leading string orchestras of Sweden. As "Camerata" in the name of the orchestra indicates, they often play "camerata" i.e. with no conductor. This places high demands on the musicians to be sensitive ensemble players. "Roman" is a reference to the "father of Swedish music", Johan Helmich Roman (1694-1758), who lived the last 13 years of his life on the Haraldsmåla estate north of Kalmar.
