Victor Ryabchikov
The Seasons and other small pieces for Piano by Pyotr Tchaikovsky
Victor Ryabchikov, Russian and now a resident of Moscow, was born in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. He studied in the Tashkent Conservatory under Angelina Danilova and subsequently at the Moscow Conservatory under Tatiana Nikolayeva. In 1992 he was voted Pianist of the Year by the Russian Press Organisation (APN) and the following year made his first concert appearance outside the former Soviet Union. Subsequent tours have taken him to France, Switzerland, Sweden, The Netherlands, Italy, South Africa, Germany and the United Kingdom, where he made his Wigmore Hall debut in April 2000.
His highly personal interpretations of Chopin, Schubert, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Glinka and lesser known Russian romantic composers such as Arensky, Balakirev, Lyadov and the Rubinstein brothers inspire terms as 'poetic' and 'exquisite touch' from reviewers. Victor Ryabchikov initiated the Glinka festival in Moscow and was co-founder, in 1997, of the Glinka Music Society.
